BI: Member States Respond Positively To The G20 Presidency

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Dody Budi Waluyo said member countries responded positively to the G20 Indonesia Presidency which had been going on for almost a full year. "There are positive testimonials from all countries involved in organizing the G20," said Dody on the sidelines of the IMF-WB Annual Meeting in Washington DC, USA, quoted from Antara, Saturday, October 15. Dody said the positive testimonials came from the participants of the 4th Meeting of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank (FMCBG) of the G20 which had just finished on Thursday night. According to him, the meeting participants saw the Indonesian G20 Presidency provide warmth to all meeting participants as well as cultural, culinary diversity, and MSME products that provide good memories. "This light testimony is a balancer of the discussion of quite hard substance, meaning that members feel this is a positive point from the G20," he said. A number of finance ministers and governors of the G20 central bank attended the FMCBG meeting directly which had been held four times at the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency to formulate a number of views. In the meeting chaired by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati and the Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, there were six discussion agendas such as the global economy, international financial architecture, financial sector regulations, sustainable financial infrastructure investment, and international taxation. The meeting, which was attended by 66 direct leaders and four virtually also invited the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, who indicated the 3rd invitation to be held during the Indonesian presidency. On this occasion, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the G20 Indonesia Presidency in 2022 provided evidence that the G20 had succeeded in becoming the main forum for international cooperation to suppress the crisis. Indonesia, he continued, is also trying to transmit the spirit of cooperation, collaboration, and joint consensus that are useful for finding solutions to overcome global issues in the context of the multilateral spirit. "We believe in world awareness and cooperation expectations to build bridges. Indonesia also appreciates the members who have supported the leadership of the G20 Presidency since the beginning until now," he said. Previously, the FMCBG's first meeting at Indonesia's G20 Presidency took place in February 2022 in Jakarta, the second meeting in April 2022 in Washington DC, USA, and the third meeting in July 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali. Indonesia's G20 Presidency will end after holding the G20 leadership Summit in November 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali. After that, India won the trust to hold the next G20 chairmanship in 2023.
