JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) continues to collaborate with various parties to encourage the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.

One of them is by opening a partnership franchise for Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) used for cars, and Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU) for motorcycles.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained that PLN carried out independent development and cooperation with various stakeholders to fire the addition of SPKLU and SPBKLU.

Currently, cooperation in providing SPKLU is in the pattern of franchises with SOEs and the private sector. It is noted that there are already 48 potential partners who are interested in developing SPKLU.

"We have a strategy to develop the number of SPKLUs and SPBKLUs to mushroom. We carry out franchises, collaborate with strategic area owners. We do an approach to offices, cafes, restaurants to malls that do have strategic asset locations. We invite all parties to collaborate," Darmawan said in an official statement, Thursday, October 13.

Darmawan explained that PLN has participated in the construction of SPKLU by 43 percent of the total national SPKLU for the acceleration of EV growth in Indonesia. Where PLN has 150 SPKLU units in 120 locations.

In 2022, PLN targets to build 110 SPKLU units spread throughout Indonesia.

Of this target, as many as 70 SPKLU units were built to support the G20 Summit in Bali.

"This is a big movement. In accordance with Presidential Decree number 55 of 2019, PLN is specifically given the mandate to develop an electric vehicle ecosystem. For this reason, the target of developing the EV ecosystem carried out by PLN is the development of cooperation with the Battery provider, with EV vehicle developers, and with the EV community," said Darmawan.

Apart from SPKLU, Darmawan explained, PLN also continues to build SPBKLU.

This is because SPBKLU is what the community needs the most in the midst of the proliferation of electric motorcycles, especially online motorcycle taxi drivers.

"If this electric motorbike charges once for 60 kilometers, while this ojol usually needs 150 kilometers (km), then we have to change the battery 2-3 times. For that, we are also aggressively building this SPBKLU," said Darmawan.

To be able to increase the number of SPBKLU units, PLN has collaborated with Grab, Gesit and also Viar.

Meanwhile, to increase penetration, PLN has also signed an MoU with Manufactories, Distributors and Transportation Businessmen. So far, PLN has collaborated with 7 ATPM Roda 4 (Hyundai, Nissan, DFSK, Toyota, Wuling, Mitsubishi, Mercedes Benz), 6 ATPM Roda 2 (Gesits, Viar, Volta, U-Win Fly, Smooth, Selis), and Grab.

"Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia will be more massively built," he concluded.
