Rosan Roeslani: There Are US Incar Investors Potential For Clean Energy Investment In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Indonesian Ambassador to the United States (US) Rosan P Roeslani said industry players in the field of clean energy in the US are eyeing investment potential in Indonesia. "They are interested in clean energy such as geothermal and carbon capture," said Rosan during an IMF-WB meeting in Washington DC, quoted from Antara, Thursday, October 13. He said investment in environmentally friendly energy is currently a target because Southeast Asia is a large market because it has a source of geothermal and carbon capture potential that reaches 40 percent of the world. In addition, he continued that another investment potential from the US is investment in electric car batteries considering that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest nickel reserves in the world. "We continue to do virtual presentations with Ford to follow up on what is needed, including with Tesla with Elon Musk and his team. Feedback is positive, but there are several factors that ask to be negotiated," said Rosan. Rosan ensured that the Indonesian Embassy would continue to carry out economic diplomacy to invite investment into Indonesia, especially in accordance with the potential resources owned and natural conditions in the country. "We offer investors competitively because neighboring countries also have almost the same conditions. So we have competitive energy, because gradually we will reduce fuel energy," he said. The government continues to strengthen investment by inviting investors to enter through a number of regulatory changes and incentives, considering that investment is one of the engines of economic growth in Indonesia.
