JAKARTA - PT Pertamina is committed to encouraging the carbon capture business in line with the plan to issue a Net Zero Emission (NZE) Roadmap which includes a decarbonization strategy and new business development based on clean and green energy.
Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati said the implementation of the Pertamina NZE Roadmap was supported by carbon accounting and accurate reporting in accordance with global standards, the implementation of Internal Carbon Pricing and Carbon Trading, the establishment of dedicated sustainability organization, strengthening fundamental capacity and alignment with related stakeholders.
The Pertamina NZE Roadmap will include the company's long-term strategic plan aligned with the aspirations of Pertamina's decarbonization and clean & green energy business as well as the government's NZE target, which is 2060 or sooner.
This is also an affirmation of Pertamina's commitment to support Indonesia's commitment as part of the global community in climate change mitigation actions.
In this framework, Pertamina signed a commitment by the President Director together with the President Director of Sub Holding Pertamina.

Nicke added that the decarbonization effort in the context of implementing the NZE roadmap was realized in several strategic initiatives in the form of energy efficiency efforts, loss reduction, electrification and use of low-carbon fuel and green-power generation as well as optimizing carbon capture and storage in all company business lines.

In addition, as an effort to accelerate implementation in order to support the fulfillment of emission reduction targets within Pertamina and nationally, Pertamina also plays an active role in developing carbon market ecosystems through the implementation of carbon trading pilots within Pertamina.
Pertamina also contributes to the development of synergies in the development of the carbon economy between SOEs.
For real implementation in supporting the decarbonization initiative, cooperation is also carried out with various other parties, including the Indonesia Stock Exchange related to the Development of Carbon Business Trade, Krakatau Steel and TEPCO related to the Development of Green Hydrogen, Chiyoda related to the CCUS initiative and others.
