Build A Health SEZ In Bali, Erick Thohir Calls Indonesian Doctors Abroad To Return Home

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed, many Indonesian doctors who are abroad are hesitant to return to the country.

This is because their abilities are far from the technology available in Indonesian hospitals. So, it will be difficult to implement it.

Erick's statement is based on the confession of Diah, an Indonesian Obstetrician and Gynecologist who works at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

"One thing that the diaspora often conveys is their great desire to return to their country, but they are confused. Especially those who work in the health sector, such as Dr. Diah, who practices at Milton Keynes University Hospital," he said, as quoted from his official Instagram @erickthohir, Wednesday, October 5th.

"Ms. Diah wants to serve in remote areas of Indonesia, but her skills will be difficult to implement if the health technology there is not yet sophisticated," continued Erick.

Erick Thohir said, the presence of the Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sanur, Bali which is currently being built will make medical workers working abroad not hesitate to return home to Indonesia.

Furthermore, Erick said, we need skilled professionals in the technology-based health sector.

Erick said this need is in line with the design of the Health SEZ as an international standard hospital equipped with high-tech medical equipment that is being built in Sanur, Bali.

Therefore, Erick also invited Indonesian doctors abroad to work at the Bali International Hospital or Bali International Hospital after the construction process was completed.

"God willing, soon Indonesia will have a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Health that is sophisticated, innovative, and environmentally friendly, of course it requires a lot of skilled medical personnel. Dr. Diah and her friends can go home later and serve. Miss eating spicy meatballs, right?" he said.
