Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Emphasizes The Utilization Of Resources For People's Prosperity

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif emphasized that in utilizing energy and mineral resources, it is carried out optimally in order to achieve independence and energy security.

"As well as being used as much as possible for the prosperity of the people, nation and state," explained Arifin in his remarks at the Mining and Energy Anniversary (HUT PE) ceremony today, Tuesday, October 4.

Furthermore, Arifin added, the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources continues to maintain programs that are in direct contact with the community for the sake of achieving the prosperity of the people.

The programs of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources are one Price Fuel, Household Gas Network (Jargas), Electric Power Distribution Equipment (Apdal), and Solar Power Street Lighting (PJU-TS).

"Then we also continue to increase the added value of minerals and coal through the downstream process and the construction of smelters," he explained.

On that occasion, Arifin said, the ESDM sector policy led to a sustainable and just energy transition to support economic growth and encourage industrial development.

"Policies are prioritized on the availability of energy by maximizing the utilization of New and Renewable Energy (EBT), at affordable prices and environmentally friendly extractive activities," said Arifin.

Arifin emphasized that the government continues to strive to anticipate changes in global energy policies which are currently transitioning towards clean, low emissions, and environmentally friendly energy to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060 according to Indonesia's commitment to COP 26.

"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has compiled an energy transition roadmap to achieve NZE by 2060 through strategies, including massive EBT development including hydrogen and nuclear, gradual PLTU retirement, use of clean technology such as CCS/CCUS, as well as utilization of electric vehicles and induction stoves, development of household gas networks, utilization of biofuels, application of energy management and minimum energy performance standards," concluded Arifin.
