SKK Migas: Indonesia Have 128 Basins, But Only 20 Are Utilized

JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) encourages Cooperation Contractors (KKKS) to continue to innovate to be able to maximize the potential of oil and gas (oil and gas) in Indonesia. Because so far there is a lot of potential but it has not been developed properly. Secretary of SKK Migas Taslim Z. Yunus said Indonesia has great potential from oil and gas, but this cannot be utilized optimally, which can be seen from the number of oil and gas basins that have been utilized. "Indonesia has 128 basins that have produced only 20 basins," said Taslim at the FGD and Media Gathering SKK Migas and KKKS events, Monday, October 3. Taslim said that if these basins were successfully explored and exploited, it could bring many benefits to Indonesia. The first advantage is that if the gas found is successfully taken, it will increase the energy mix. Second, if these basins produce, it can reduce the current account deficit. "Because we know now our oil production is only around 615 thousand barrels per day while our needs are 1.4 million barrels per day," he said. Furthermore, said Taslim, if that can be maximized, it is possible that it will be able to assist Indonesia's trade balance. "In this high price condition, this large import will affect our current balance sheet transaction deficit," he said.
