JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir will require all directors of state-owned companies to use electric vehicles.
The rules related to this are being discussed by the Ministry of SOEs.
"BUMN will also issue ministerial regulations (about) the transition of state-owned companies to use motorbikes and electric cars within a period of for example 2-3 years. We are still working on this," Erick Thohir told reporters, quoted Friday, September 9.
The former Inter Milan Club boss explained that this plan is still being discussed. Because, Erick admitted that he did not want the policies he issued to burden state-owned companies.
"Don't let us burden SOEs too, finally come back to us, oh because you have to do this, we have a big cost. Actually it's not like that, what is called the procurement of motorbikes and electric cars can be rented, right," he said.
Not only for state-owned companies, but the Ministry of SOEs is also pushing to increase the use of public transportation.
Where, public transportation owned by the government will no longer use fossil fuels but electricity.
"Public vehicles must be improved, that's why they proposed electric buses," he said.
On the other hand, Erick said, BUMN already has a blueprint or idea to reduce the use of fuel. One of them is the use of Biofuel which is a mixture of Solar with crude palm oil (CPO) or B40.
"Now we are proposing ethanol too. Like in Brazil, Thailand, India. So we do that," said Erick.
