JAKARTA - The Bekasi Regency Land Transport Organization (Organda), West Java proposed an increase in public transportation rates by 15 percent for all regional operational routes as a result of the increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM).
"Currently, our proposal regarding the adjustment of public transport rates is being discussed by the Bekasi Regency Transportation Service," said Secretary of the Bekasi Regency DPC Organda Yaya Ropandi in Cikarang, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, September 6.
He said the proposed increase in public transport rates was based on input and requests from public transport entrepreneurs, transportation service actors, and transportation drivers in response to the dynamics that occurred in the community after the government's policy of transferring fuel subsidies.
"The proposal for an increase of 15 percent for all angkot routes in Bekasi Regency. There are 600 angkots that are currently still operating in Bekasi Regency," he said.
He stated that the increase in fuel prices was burdensome for entrepreneurs and public transport drivers because the cost of buying fuel was increasing, including for the purchase of spare parts.
"I think expenditures, especially buying fuel go up, not to mention later spare parts and others, while income is still relatively the same," he said.
Yaya admitted that the Bekasi Regency Organda DPC had sent a letter to the Bekasi Regent regarding the refusal to increase the price of fuel. The letter numbered 15/DPC OGD/BKS/IX/2022 dated September 3, 2022.
The price of fuel has increased since last Saturday, September 3. For Pertalite type fuel, it was originally Rp. 7,650 per liter to Rp. 10,000 per liter. Solar subsidies from Rp. 5,150 to Rp. 6,800 per liter, and non-subsidized Pertamax from Rp. 12,500 per liter to Rp. 14,500 per liter.
