Subsidized Fuel Restrictions Must Be Carried Out So That The APBN Is Saved

JAKARTA - Executive Director of CORE Indonesia Muhammad Faisal assessed that restrictions on the distribution of Subsidized fuel must be carried out. He said the policy was to save the state budget.

"The limit on the distribution of subsidized fuel should have been done first. Because if not, the burden on the state budget will still be high. Moreover, the price gap between Pertamax and Pertalite is still large," said Faisal in his statement, Tuesday, September 6.

Faisal said the gap between the selling price between Pertamax and Pertalite was very high before there was an increase. No wonder people choose to use Pertalite and make the stock run out quickly.

After there was an increase, the gap between the two types of fuel got smaller.

"The potential for shifting remains. Remember that time it was Pertalite that made people flock because one of them was triggered by the increase in the price of Pertamax," said Faisal.

Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara ensured that the government would continue to limit the consumption of Subsidized fuel. Even though the increase in selling prices has been carried out, without restrictions, the portion of the subsidy burden in the APBN will still be high.

"The principle of this subsidy should be to the people who are entitled. We are still trying to subsidies on target," said Suahasil online.

Suahasil explained that until now the subsidy fuel is still on sale. Even though there is an increase in prices, there is still a price gap that is still the responsibility of the state budget. So, the option to carry out restrictions will still be carried out by the government.

"We are trying to be more targeted, for example, a good car, don't buy Pertalite. For public transportation, small vehicles are still allowed. This will be further regulated," said Suahasil.
