Cipinang Jaya Food Station Ensures That DKI Residents' Rice Needs Are Adequate And Stabilized Until The End Of 2022

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that as many as 345 million people in the world are experiencing very serious food insecurity. This was conveyed at the 59th Anniversary of the Bogor Agricultural University which was broadcast on IPB TV Youtube, Thursday, September 1, 2022.

"Humanitarian crisis is in front of our eyes, 345 million people in the world in 82 countries are experiencing very serious food insecurity," Jokowi said in his remarks.

Jokowi explained that currently the food price index has experienced a very high increase. In fact, sea logistics costs have also increased.

The increase in the global food price index has reached a record high. Logistics costs on sea routes have increased by 3 times, increasing the cost of fertilizer production which has an impact on increasing food and agricultural production costs," he said. Therefore, Jokowi said that food issues should be a serious concern, especially for universities.

Responding to Jokowi's words, BUMD PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya and BUMN Bulog Banten Regional Office ensured that the stock of rice in Jakarta was safe until the end of 2022. Perum Bulog has a stock of approximately 1.1 million tons of rice. This figure ensures that Indonesia's rice and corn stocks are safe.

President Director of PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya Pamrihadi Wiraryo explained that his party's rice stock had exceeded the safe limit of 30 thousand tons.

"For the stock of rice reserves at the Cipinang Main Market, the safety stock is 30 thousand tons, currently there are 33 thousand tons in Cipinang," said Pamrihadi based on a written statement.

Furthermore, said Pamrihadi, his party also still has 8,000 tons of rice reserves in the Food Station warehouse, coupled with around nine thousand tons of stock in various warehouses of Food Station partners.

Pamrihadi said, as a BUMD DKI Jakarta, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya became an instrument in implementing programs related to public welfare. He also supports the central government's policy in an effort to maintain and stabilize food availability and prices as a basic need for the community.

Furthermore, the price of rice from early 2022 to throughout 2022 is predicted to be stable due to the smooth supply of rice and there is no crop failure in the producing area. In fact, according to Pamrihadi, the rice price index in 2022 has decreased slightly compared to the 2021 period of approximately 1 percent to 1.1 percent.

"The price index at the Cipinang Main Market is approximately 1 percent to 1.1 percent lower than the same period last year. So the actual price is relatively stable," he concluded.

The Highest Retail Price (HET) of the National Food Agency (Bapana) admitted that it would reorganize the Highest Retail Price (HET). The strategic step was taken as a result of the increase in rice prices during August 2021.

"We are calculating the highest retail price of rice," said Deputy for Availability and Stabilization of Panas Food I Gusti Ketut Astawa in Pasar Minggu, Friday, September 2.

Central Java recorded that the national average price for premium rice today is IDR 12,340 per kg, while the premium rice HET is IDR 12,800 per kg. Meanwhile, today's medium rice price reaches IDR 10,810, while the HET of medium rice is only IDR 9,450 per kg.

"So, we set just one HET, it's easier because the HET of medium rice is absorbed into premium rice," said Ketut.
