Trade Minister Zulhas Claims The Price Of Chicken Eggs Has Down

JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan admits that the price of eggs is still high. However, Zulkifli claims there is a downward trend in the price of broiler eggs.

The average price of eggs in several areas such as Jakarta, East Java, West Java is IDR 30,000 per kilogram (kg).

This was conveyed by Zulhas as Zulkifli Hasan's nickname, while conducting market operations at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

"The route has gone down. Yesterday I went to Samarinda, the price from Rp. 32,000 was Rp. 31,000. I asked where did it come from? Take it from East Java for Rp. 27,000. So DKI Pananga is indeed between Rp. 30,000, so the Food Agency needs market operations, assisted by friends," he said at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Friday, September 2.

Zulhas said, the price of eggs in East Java is at Rp. 29,000 per kg. Meanwhile, in West Java it is still Rp. 29,000 to Rp. 30,000 per kg. Meanwhile, Sumatra is already below Rp. 30,000 per kg. On average, from Aceh to Lampung, the price is below Rp. 29,000 per kg.

"Because there are a lot of businesses like this. So (the laying) has started to fall, hopefully next week it can go down even more," he said.

Zulhas said the turmoil in egg prices was due to soaring demand.

According to him, the easing given by the government regarding the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the culinary sector run again. Thus, encouraging large demand.

"Right now, we haven't done it right, but everything is open. All food stalls, restaurants, people having dinner at hotels seem normal. That's why demand has soared," he said.

"August is also the case for many parties, many events, and so on. It was also due to the price of feed that went up a bit yesterday. But again now it has gradually gone down for eggs," he said.
