Initially Free, Indovac Vaccine Will Pay IDR 100,000 Per Dose

JAKARTA - The SOE COVID-19 vaccine or Indovac is targeted to obtain an emergency use authorization (EUA) from BPOM in early mid-September. This vaccine will be priced under Rp. 100,000 per dose.

President Director of Bio Farma Honesti Basyir ensured that for now, BUMN or Indovac vaccines are still free for the public. The government will still bear the costs from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

"It's free, the government pays for it from the state budget, the public can enjoy it," he said after the BUMN Coffee event, at the SOE Ministry, Monday, August 22.

Even so, Honesti said that his party opened the possibility for BUMN or Indovac vaccines to be paid for. However, Honesti did not clearly disclose the amount of money that the public needs to pay to buy this vaccine.

Honesti explained that the price that will be set will refer to the components of vaccine manufacture. Starting from the raw materials, to the manufacturing process so that it is ready for use.

"We will probably try to get the price below Rp. 100,000, yes, because the process is mostly above 80 percent, we do it in Indonesia, only the source (source of raw materials) for the vaccine is collaborating with foreign (institutional)," he said. .

Honesti explained that the vaccine produced by this BUMN will be paid for with a note that the pandemic status has been revoked by the government and has become endemic. That way, the need for vaccines will not depend on the program run by the government.

So, the position of the domestically made COVID-19 vaccine is possible to pay like a vaccine in general.

Furthermore, Honesti explained that there is a possibility that the pandemic status will end in 2023, but the production of the vaccine will continue. However, the scale of production will not be as much as it is today.

"We'll see if the government uses the state budget now, we'll give it all to the government. But if next year there's no more, this pandemic is lifted, it's endemic, it's like a flu vaccine, it's paid for," he said.
