Corn Stock Surplus 3 Million Tons, Indonesia Will Export To The Philippines

JAKARTA - Indonesia experienced a surplus of corn stocks of up to 3 million tons. The plan, this corn stock will be exported to the Philippines.

Perum Bulog also claimed to have contacted the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Manila to make this happen.

Head of the Commodity Procurement Division of Perum Bulog, Budi Cahyanto, said that based on his calculations, Indonesia had a surplus in terms of corn production. This condition makes the export faucet wide open for these commodities.

"In terms of corn, I think this is also a very good opportunity for us to export. Because the production is more or less, the surplus can reach up to 3 million tons. I have contacted the Indonesian Embassy in Manila before, he is very aware, very helpful for us to realize this in the future. the near future," he said in a virtual discussion, Friday, August 19.

But along with the plan, there are problems that arise, namely the shortage of dryers or corn drying machines. Because, when the corn harvest is high, a drying machine that is able to accommodate is needed.

"This is a type of food that we have to dry while in the next period after harvesting it usually undergoes a process of potential exposure to fungi and others. So at the same time we must move to absorb as much as possible and then carry out the drying process," he said. .

Therefore, said Budi, the lack of this machine will also be overcome. According to him, Bulog is currently going to build a corn drain center (CDC) facility.

There are six location points being built with a capacity of approximately 120 tons per day. If accumulated per year, the total capacity of this machine is 108,000 tons.

"Of course we can revolving the stock until at the same time when Indonesia has a shortage of corn needs, the potential for prices to rise, we already have corn readiness in the future. Later we will have several dryers being built at this time, God willing. God maybe around December it will be finished," he said.
