PLN Ready To Absorb 4.5 MW Of Electricity From The Pantanweather PLTM

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) is ready to absorb electricity from the Pantan Weather Micro Power Plant (PLTM) with a capacity of 4.5 Megawatts (MW).

This is a form of support for the development of New Renewable Energy (EBT).

General Manager of PLN Aceh Regional Main Unit (UIW), Parulian Noviandri said, if the PLTM was running, there would be a change in the use of fossil fuels to EBT.

The purchase of electricity from the 4.5 MW Pantanweather PLTM will provide PLN with a potential savings of IDR 10.4 billion per year against Aceh's Basic Production Costs (BPP).

"PLN hopes that the operation of the Pantanweather PLTM can be realized soon," said Parulian in an official statement, Thursday, August 18.

Parulian revealed that the savings obtained came from cutting the operating costs of the diesel power plant (PLTD) rental for one month, which required around 510,000 liters of oil to produce 1.8 million kwh.

"The rental fee for PLTD is around Rp. 2,800 per kWh. Meanwhile, the cost of purchasing electricity from the Pantan Weather PLTM is only Rp. 940 per kWh.

With the Pantan Weather PLTM, he continued, PLN's PLTD Rema engine can act as a backup power supplier for Gayo Lues Regency which has a good effect on PLN's machines.

"The presence of this 4.5 MW PLTM is indeed awaited. The burning of fossil oil is indeed the fastest but is operationally expensive plus the price of fossil fuels is expensive. If the 4.5 MW Pantan Weather PLTM operates, it will replace fossil fuels with renewable energy," he said.

The Pantan Weather PLTM is located in Gayo Lues Regency with a capacity of 4.5 MW with an investment value of Rp 160 billion.

The construction of the Pantan Weather PLTM has begun in May and it is hoped that the groundbreaking will be carried out in September.

"Construction has begun in May, we will try to finish construction by prioritizing safety and caring for the environment," said President Director of PT Hidro Jaya Konstruksi, Baek Seunghwan.

Previously, PT Hidro Jaya Konstruksi had been designated as the winner of the 4.5 MW Distributed PLTM quota auction in Gayo Lues which was held by PLN UIW Aceh.

It is announced that this project will be ready in 2024.
