JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has postponed the implementation of the new tariff for online motorcycle taxis or ojol as stated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KP 564 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for Calculation of Service Fees for Motorcycles Used for the Interest of the Community.
"Initially in KM Number KP 564 of 2022 it was written that the effective implementation was carried out for a maximum of 10 calendar days. Therefore, the effective implementation of this rule has been increased to no later than 25 calendar days," said Director General of Land Transportation, Hendro Sugiatno in a statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, August 14.
Hendro explained, KM Number KP 564 of 2022 was issued on August 4, 2022. Originally, Saturday, August 13, was the last time to implement the policy.
However, the Ministry of Transportation stipulates that the applicator adjustment to the tariff can be made no later than 25 calendar days since the KM is established, or on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
He conveyed that the decision was based on the results of a review that required a longer time to disseminate this new tariff to all stakeholders, considering that the online motorcycle taxi transportation mode is related to the interests of the wider community.
Furthermore, Hendro said that the additional time for socialization was also based on input and aspirations from all parties.
He hopes that, at the time set, it can be implemented and guided by the applicator, in accordance with the provisions of PM 12 of 2019 concerning the Protection of the Safety of Motorcycle Users Used for the Interest of the Community.
"Regarding the timing of tariff adjustments in the application, applicators can also immediately apply new rates and improve services for passengers, including ensuring passenger safety," he said.
