JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk does not want to rush to increase flight ticket prices.

This is because the issuer with the stock code GIAA will still review and monitor the avtur price movement in adjusting ticket prices.

As is known, the Ministry of Transportation has allowed airlines to increase flight ticket prices.

This is in accordance with the implementation of the Ministry of Transportation's policy KM 142 of 2022 regarding the amount of additional costs (surcharges) caused by fuel surcharges.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that his party was intensely monitoring the movement of avtur prices before deciding to increase aircraft fares.

In addition, he said, the decision to increase fares must be made carefully without ignoring the interests of passengers.

"We have no doubts, we are most sure that if we need to increase, we will increase it, now we are reviewing it because it seems that avtur prices are going down, it's not fair that avtur prices go down, Garuda raises (tariffs)," said Irfan during the 2022 Garuda Indonesia GMS at the Hotel Ritz Carlton, Jakarta, Friday, August 12.

Even so, Irfan expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) for giving his blessing to increase the price of economy class tickets for domestic routes.

However, he emphasized that Garuda is still considering an increase in ticket prices, because this will have an impact on passengers.

"Of course we are very grateful to the Minister of Transportation, but we also side with the passengers," he said.

Irfan also said that the approval of the fare increase only applies to domestic economy class flights.

"Before this regulation, permission was obtained to increase by 10 percent which was valid for three months for review again, now the Ministry of Transportation has increased it to 15 percent, meaning an increase of five percent from the previous (regulation)," he said.

Previously, Irfan said that Garuda Indonesia would certainly respond to and implement the policy carefully and thoroughly regarding the implementation of the Ministry of Transportation's policy KM 142 of 2022 regarding the amount of surcharge caused by fuel surcharges.

"Of course, taking into account the fluctuations in avtur fuel prices against the need for ticket price adjustments, of course, while still prioritizing the fulfillment of community needs for the accessibility of flight services," he said.
