Soaring Up To 337 Percent, South Sumatra's Export Duty Receipts As Of June Reached IDR 168 Billion

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Customs and Excise for Eastern Sumatra (South Sumatra Province) noted that export duty receipts shot up to 337 percent of the target as of June 2022 because it was influenced by the reopening of export permits for CPO and its derivatives.

Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for Eastern Sumatra, Sugeng Apriyanto, said that South Sumatra recorded export duty revenues of Rp. 168 billion as of June 2022. Meanwhile, the target until the end of the year was Rp. 49.8 billion.

This condition is not as good as import duty receipts, which experienced a downward trend in June 2022 when compared to the previous month.

"South Sumatra only earned Rp103 billion or realized 101.2 of the 2022 target," said Apriyanto as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 9.

However, this achievement has increased when compared to the same month in the previous year.

In June, he said, the import of machinery still dominated South Sumatra import duty receipts.

Meanwhile, for revenue from excise, South Sumatra does not have a source of income from this sector because the plastic excise has not yet been implemented.

"The realization of Customs and Excise revenue in South Sumatra reached Rp. 271.3 billion or 178.82 percent of the target," he said.

According to him, the achievement should be grateful because the Customs and Excise revenue in South Sumatra was depressed in the first quarter of 2022 due to the decline in industrial activity and CPO commodities.

The realization of Export Duties was recorded at only Rp. 16.57 billion in April 2022, a decrease of more than 50 percent compared to March 2022 due to the ban on CPO exports.

The decline at that time also occurred in Import Duties because import activities from companies operating in South Sumatra declined.

The realization of Import Duties in South Sumatra was worth Rp. 19.19 billion, down 22.3 percent compared to the previous month last April.
