Buying Fuel At Gas Stations Using Jerry Cans Allowed, Pertamina: But, There Must Be A Letter Of Recommendation!

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) still allows customers to buy subsidized fuel oil (BBM) using jerry cans. However, there are conditions that must be met.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Irto Ginting said that purchases using jerry cans are still allowed as long as the customer attaches a letter of recommendation.

"What is the purchase for? For SMEs, fishermen, or health facilities, they must attach a letter of recommendation from the relevant agency," said Irto to VOI, Wednesday, July 13.

Irto also noted that this purchase is also not allowed to be traded freely. He detailed several criteria for consumers who can buy and consume subsidized fuel, including MSMEs, agricultural businesses, fishery businesses, and public services such as health.

For fishery business activities, Pertamina requires a letter of recommendation from the fisheries service. Meanwhile, health facilities are required to include a letter of recommendation from the health office.

Regarding the use of the QR Code from the MyPertamina application, Irto said that consumers are still required to register themselves as consumers of subsidized fuel.

"Registration is still mandatory, but the person concerned registers for non-vehicles," continued Irto.

Furthermore, Irto added that consumers who have oil and gas businesses are also required to carry out a series of registrations with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas).

"In accordance with the Oil and Gas Law No. 22 of 2001 and PP 36 of 2004 that to carry out downstream oil and gas business activities, the government must obtain approval from the government in this case through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Directorate General of Oil and Gas) and register the business license with BPH Migas," concluded Irto.
