JAKARTA - President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, projects that the company will gradually start to record positive performance in semester II/2022, after being declared to have escaped the threat of bankruptcy.

The acceleration of Garuda's performance recovery immediately started after reaching a homologation agreement through the Debt Payment Suspension (PKPU) process at the end of June 2022.

Irfan said the projected positive performance recording can be seen through the performance of Garuda's operating income since May 2022.

Garuda managed to record profitability through revenue from passenger, cargo, charter routes, and other supporting revenues.

However, Irfan said, Garuda's operating income has not fully recovered when compared to the pre-pandemic period.

The profitability performance that has begun to be obtained by Garuda is achieved after carrying out various cost leadership implementation steps which are also aligned through restructuring of business obligations in the PKPU process which is an important basis for accelerating steps to recover Garuda's performance in the future.

Furthermore, Irfan said, the projected positive performance in 2022 will continue to be optimized by Garuda in stages over the next two to three years.

This is so that we can return to the level of the period before the pandemic to generate optimal profits for business performance.

"This optimism is what we continue to align with demand and the increasing trend of passenger movement. Therefore, we are optimistic that through the momentum of achieving PKPU homologation, Garuda can consistently maintain positive performance achievements and in the future can immediately record profits," said Irfan in a written statement received VOI, Wednesday, July 13th.

Irfan said 2022 will be a crucial year in the recovery process for Garuda's performance in line with various strategic steps.

According to Irfan, the company will continue to optimize this by achieving homologation of the PKPU process as the basis for Garuda's restructuring mission.

"Therefore, with the various strategic momentum that the Company continues to accelerate in 2022, we are optimistic that corporate performance will gradually recover in the near future through the basis of optimizing positive performance on Garuda's business revenue line," he said.
