JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) continues to increase the portion of new and renewable energy-based plants in Indonesia. 2 (two) new PLTM are successfully operated in the Lampung area, namely the Batu Brak PLTM and the Melesom 2 PLTM.

These two clean energy-based plants are built in accordance with the 2021-2030 'Green' RUPTL.

President Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN is committed to supporting the government in achieving the carbon neutral target by 2060 by accelerating the operation of NRE plants.

Through the green RUPTL that has been issued, PLN will increase the portion of NRE plants up to 24 GW until 2030.

"We are trying to be able to accelerate the operation of the NRE plant which is currently planned and in the process of construction. This step is carried out so that the energy mix target of 23 percent in 2023 can also be achieved," Darmawan told the media, Thursday, July 7.

Moreover, said Darmawan, Indonesia is a country rich in natural resources.

With the development of electrical energy based on domestic natural resources, it can reduce dependence on fossil energy.

"Indonesia has a huge potential for clean energy and can be developed so that it becomes the main capital of this country to achieve energy independence," added Darmawan.

In order to realize the Green RUPTL, PLN strengthens collaboration with the private sector through the construction of new renewable energy-based plants.

Through the active involvement of independent power producers (IPP), PLN received additional operations of the Mini Hydro Power Plant (PLTM) in Lampung.

One of them is the Batu Brak PLTM which has officially operated on June 20, 2022.

This plant with a capacity of 2x3.85 MW adds to the portion of NRE plants in the energy mix, especially in Lampung.

The operation of this PLTM was continued with the Electricity Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) between PLN and PT Tiga Oregon Putra (TOP) as the IPP of the Batu Brak PLTM.

Meanwhile, PT Graha Hidro Nusantara as the IPP of PLTM Melesom 2 on the same occasion pocketed a funding commitment or financial close.

These two IPPs inaugurated an important stage for the construction of the plant through an agreement signed in Bali, Thursday, June 30, 2022.

For PLTM Melesom 2 has a capacity of 2X1.15MW with an interconnection plan through 20kV SUTM through the Mocca refinery from GI Liwa.

This plant is capable of producing energy per year of 39.85GWh.

Currently the peak load of the buoy subsystem reaches 1,100 MW. Where, with the inclusion of the Batu Brak PLTM and melesom 2 PLTM, it is able to answer the needs of electricity supply.

Currently, the total portion of NRE in Lampung reaches 285.9 MW or around 25.9 percent of the energy mix of the Lampung subsystem.

With the inclusion of the Batu Brak PLTM and Melesom 2 PLTM, it further enriches the types of NRE plants in Lampung, which are mostly dominated by hydropower and PLTP.
