JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked that the socialization of the use of the PeduliLindung application for the purchase of people's bulk cooking oil (MGCR) be extended to three months.

This extension was carried out because there are still many official retailers who have registered in the Bulk Cooking Oil Information System 2.0 (SIMIRAH) 2.0 application and Logistics and Retail Service Business Actors (PUJLE) who have not downloaded the PeduliLindung QR code.

"I also ask for a transition period and socialization of the use of Care for Protect, which was originally 2 weeks, can be extended for 3 months. We must understand the adaptation process that is still needed by our friends in the field," he said in a written statement quoted on Sunday, July 3.

During the extension of this socialization period, the public can still buy MGCR without the need to show a resident identification number (NIK). However, said Luhut, the government hopes that retailers and buyers can start using and familiarize themselves with the use of Peduli Protect in the MGCR buying and selling process.

For that, Luhut said, the government encourages retailers to immediately print the QR Code PeduliLindung through SIMIRAH 2.0 or PUJLE and paste it at the point of sale.

In addition, Luhut continued, the government will also continue to develop the use of PeduliLindung as a tool for monitoring and controlling the distribution of cooking oil to anticipate another increase in cooking oil prices in the market.

Luhut also confirmed that the government is currently trying to find a balance between upstream and downstream targets related to cooking oil control.

"Currently, the price of cooking oil has reached Rp. 14,000 per liter in Java-Bali, so we can start relaxing policies on the upstream side carefully to accelerate exports and improve the price of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) at the farmer level," he said.

Luhut said the government also agreed to immediately push for price adjustments for MGCR outside Java-Bali, which are still not in line with the Highest Retail Price (HET).

For this reason, Luhut asked the Ministry of Trade to speed up the implementation of the people's packaged cooking oil (MinyaKita) program.

"To accelerate packaged cooking oil, it is necessary to provide attractive incentives for producers, so that they can move faster and delivery is also easier because they can use ordinary distribution channels such as container ships, not having to use bulk ships," he explained.
