Assessed Still Sloping, Sri Mulyani Asks Fisheries Non-Tax Revenues To Be Optimized: We Are A Maritime Country, Big Potential

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that the fishery sector is one sector that is quite strategic to drive income for the state, especially in Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP).

According to him, although there has been a large spike in the realization of PNBP in the fisheries sector in the first half, this is still considered far from its true potential.

In the explanation of the Minister of Finance, until May 2022 PNBP levies have penetrated IDR 526.6 billion or grew 117.9 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy).

"Of course we hope that the fisheries sector with the current regulations and reforms can still provide welfare for fishermen and protect them too. However, the state revenue from PNBP can still be increased," he said when giving his presentation on the 2022 State Budget, quoted on Sunday, June 26.

According to the Minister of Finance, several assumptions that can encourage the increase in fisheries non-tax revenues are the increase in fishery activities and business permits this year. Then, according to macro indications, the fisherman's exchange rate in May 2022 rose to 107 from the previous level of 105 in May 2021.

"The point is that we are a maritime (maritime) country and PNBP from fishery resources should be optimized because the potential is huge," he said.

On this occasion, the state treasurer also explained that the total amount of Non-Tax State Revenue in the first five months of 2022 had reached Rp224.1 trillion or grew from the same period in 2021 of Rp167.6 trillion.

The book is also equivalent to Rp. 66.8 percent of the PNBP target in the 2022 State Budget Law, which is Rp. 335.6 trillion.
