JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) mentions several ways to reduce imports of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), while still implementing energy diversification.

Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, said that coordination was needed to determine alternative energy for LPG for each region, so that the program to reduce LPG imports went well.

"Don't let it pile up, so what is replaced by electricity should not be replaced by natural gas," said Tutuka.

According to Tutuka, the reduction of LPG imports can be done in several ways, areas that have gas sources or are close to gas sources can replace LPG with natural gas as energy. Meanwhile, for areas where there is no gas source, you can use an electric stove.

"There is a gas source, yes, we use gas. If there is no gas source in cities where there is no gas source, we will use electricity," he said.

According to Tutuka, natural gas is energy that can be used for anything and the price is also cheaper. By utilizing domestic gas sources, it will strengthen energy independence.

"From the many uses of gas, it is cheaper to produce something, productivity increases, efficiency increases, it will increase. If we use gas and have a lot of potential, our estimate is 30 years," he explained.
