JAKARTA - The meeting of the G20 infrastructure working groups that are members of the Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) agreed to discuss three priority development agendas, namely sustainable infrastructure investment, social inclusion and regional inequality, and post-pandemic transformative infrastructure.

One of the sub-points that received important attention was the issue of the digital divide, particularly from the regulatory aspect, the role of the public and private sectors, as well as innovative financing structures in the development of digital infrastructure.

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani, who was the speaker, said that the challenge to improve digital infrastructure globally must be implemented immediately to ensure an inclusive global recovery.

"Some of the challenges in improving digital infrastructure, namely how to develop an integrated and innovative public or private financing scheme," he said in a press statement, Friday, June 10.

According to the Minister of Finance, the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 has a central role to encourage the achievement of digital transformation as a whole, both in developed and developing countries.

"We want to realize the ideals of a domestic environment that supports digitalization and a financial framework that attracts investment for all parties," he said.

To note, this time the Infrastructure Working Group meeting is the third meeting after previously being held several years ago. This agenda was held in a hybrid manner in Nusa Dua, Bali on 9-10 June 2022 and was attended by several delegates from member countries and international organizations.
