JAKARTA - Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) Bambang Susantono explained the plan to implement green energy in IKN while attending the Clean EDGE Trade Mission Agenda to open up opportunities for cooperation between Indonesia and the United States.
In the Clean EDGE Trade Mission Agenda meeting held in Jakarta, the Head of OIKN also discussed opportunities for cooperation between Indonesia and the United States in the energy sector, especially to explain the planning and needs of renewable energy for the new capital city.
"IKN is designed to be a green, inclusive, smart, responsible city and a sustainable forest city," said Bambang as quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6.
He explained the plan for implementing green energy in IKN. The electric power system designed with green energy sources is developed in three stages. Short term (2022-2023) Rooftop PV, EV Support in public and commercial, residential, industrial and charging stations.
In the medium term (2024-2025) Wind Farm with a capacity of 70 MW in 2024 and a Solar Farm with a capacity of 50 MW in 2025. In the long term (2026-2045) hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 910 MW will be built in 2028.
"There are at least three concepts that will be applied in developing the city," he said.
The first concept is a Forest City which is dominated by landscapes with a forest structure that functions as an ecosystem to create life with nature.
Next is the Sponge City concept, namely by increasing water absorption to reduce the risk of flooding and improve the quality and quantity of clean water. Next, the Smart City, which is a dynamic city, inclusive, supported by the community, and ready to face the future.
"A city that is supported by technology as an accelerator to increase productivity and quality of life," said Bambang.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Coordination of Technology Transformation and Innovation of the IKN Transition Team, Mohammed Ali Berawi, conveyed the opportunity for cooperation in the IKN economic superhub.
The vision of the Nusantara economic superhub will be realized through six strategic, resilient, and innovative economic clusters.
The six clusters include the Clean Technology Industry Cluster, the Integrated Pharmaceutical Cluster, the Sustainable Agriculture Industry Cluster, the Ecotourism and Health Tourism Cluster, the Chemicals and Chemical Derivatives Cluster, and the Low Carbon Energy Cluster, as well as two supporting clusters for the 21st Century Education and Smart Clusters. City and Industrial Center 4.0.
"In the energy sector, there are two potential projects for cooperation, namely the development of solar power and the development of floating photovoltaic at the Sepaku Semoi Dam," said Mohammed Ali.
In addition, Mohammed Ali Berawi also explained the plan for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and the Transit System at IKN. The transit system will operate with electricity-based bus rapid transit (BRT) and provide 80 percent transit service coverage.
There will be three types of BRT, namely direct service BRT as a feeder, regular BRT connecting sub-areas, and autonomous BRT.
"All ITS in the new capital area will be integrated through the ITS data center. The initial stage focuses mainly on the Capital City Center Core Area (KIPP)," said Mohammed Ali.
