Sowan To DPR, Mahfud MD Asks For Additional Budget Of IDR 24 Billion To Secure IKN And Elections

JAKARTA – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD today visited the DPR's Budget Agency (Banggar) to discuss the indicative ceiling for the 2023 fiscal year.

On this occasion, Mahfud submitted a request for an additional budget of Rp. 24.3 billion to be used next year. According to him, the budget will be used to support a number of government priority programs.

"This addition was first used to prepare for the construction of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) for securing development and guarding the preparation of ICT infrastructure (information and communication technology)," he said at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta on Monday, June 6.

Mahfud added that the funds would also be optimized to oversee activities ahead of the general election in the next few years.

"Second is to prepare for political dynamics in the implementation of the campaign for the 2024 presidential election," he said.

In detail, Mahfud explained that the budget for the preparation of the 2024 simultaneous general election was Rp. 5.3 billion, assistance in resolving legal issues ahead of the simultaneous general election was Rp. 4.8 billion, and the budget to strengthen national unity was Rp. 3.7 billion.

Then, the escort/control of the IKN defense system design is Rp. 3 billion, the escort/control of the IKN security system design is around Rp. 3 billion, and the ICT escort/control is in the Indonesian capital of Rp. 4 billion.

On this occasion, Mahfud also explained about the indicative ceiling of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam) for Fiscal Year 2023, which was Rp.296.4 billion.

Meanwhile, the budget ceiling for the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs for 2022 is IDR 248.6 billion with an absorption value of IDR 90 billion to date. Meanwhile, in 2021 the budget ceiling of the ministry led by Mahfud MD is Rp.232.1 billion with a realization of Rp.230.4 billion.
