JAKARTA - SKK Migas and PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) inaugurated the on-stream Jumelai Field development project from the Jumelai North Sisi, North Jubi (JSN) Project at the Senipah-Peciko-South (SPS) field in Mahakam, Samboja, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan, Friday May 20, 2022.

This ceremony marked the start of gas flow from the JML1 platform in the South Mahakam Field to the SPS Field. The Jumelai project is the first production facility project from PHM which will be operational in 2022.

The on-stream inauguration event for the Jumelai Project was carried out with the opening of the JUM-102.G1 ramp-up well which was symbolically carried out by SKK Migas Deputy Operations Julius Wiratno in the SPS Field Control Room.

“The estimated production from this project is gas of 45 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day) and condensate of 710 BCPD (barrels of condensate per day). With a fairly large production, the production from the Jumelai Field is one of the supports for national oil and gas needs as well as a driving force for the economy for Indonesia, especially in East Kalimantan Province," Julius told reporters, Saturday, May 21.

He said, overall this project can be completed in approximately 24 months with an investment value of 65 million US dollars or around Rp. 1.1 trillion.

Julius also encouraged PHM to meet the 2022 target, namely gas lifting of 498 MMSCFD and oil lifting of 26 thousand BOPD (barrels of oil per day).

"The fulfillment of this target will be supported by other PHM production facility projects that will be on stream in 2022, namely the North Sisi North Nubi Project in August 2022 and the Bekapai 3 Project in November 2022. Therefore, we hope that PHM officers can give every effort to both projects can also be on stream on time,” he added.

On the same occasion, PHM Senior Manager Project Setyo Sapto Edi explained that the JSN Project was the first green field project undertaken by PHM since the transfer of management from the previous operator to Pertamina.

This project was started after obtaining plan of development approval in July 2018, followed by a final investment decision in October 2019, and project execution in June 2020 through the signing of a contract with a working partner, namely PT Meindo Elang Indah as the project implementer.

Meanwhile, General Manager of PHM, Raam Krisna, said that the JSN project is a clear proof of PHM's commitment to continue to innovate and optimize in meeting national energy needs.

"This certainly cannot be achieved without the full support of SKK Migas, PHE, and PHI as the parent company," he added.

Krisna also said that the JSN Project had recorded around 4.6 million safe manhours without any work accidents.

"This is very important because safety at work is the main value held by the company, especially by PHM," he said.

It is estimated that the first on stream of the JUM-102 well on the JML1 platform is 20 MMSCFD and there will be 3 wells which will later flow into JML1. With the operation of the JML1 platform, SKK Migas estimates that PHM gas production will again reach its highest production in 2022, which is 527 MMSCFD.

Currently the JML1 platform has a design production capacity of up to 45 MMSCFD. With the planned operation of 3 platforms for the JSN Project, it is hoped that they will be able to produce as much as 135 MMSCFD of gas and support oil and gas production from the Mahakam WK by 20 percent by 2024.
