AIA-CIMB Niaga Launches Health Insurance For Hajj And Umrah Pilgrims

JAKARTA - PT AIA Financial (AIA) and PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (CIMB Niaga) launched AIA Fortuna Berkah which provides 200 percent of health insurance benefits if someone dies while traveling to perform the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage.

AIA Chief Marketing Officer Kathryn Monika Parapak said, AIA Fortuna Berkah is here as the momentum for the reopening of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"With special protection for the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages provided by AIA Fortuna Berkah, customers can carry out their worship in a focused and calm manner," said Monika in a statement to the media, Wednesday 18 May.

In addition, said Monika, protection from AIA Fortuna Berkah can also help customers to avoid financial stress due to unexpected expenses from high hospital costs for critical illness care.

Additional protection against health risks that often arise unexpectedly is important given the increasingly diverse and complex diseases.

Monika explained that BPJS Kesehatan itself noted that financing for catastrophic diseases occupies the largest proportion, ranging from 25-31 percent of the total cost of health services.

Of this proportion, the largest is occupied by heart disease (49 percent), cancer (18 percent), stroke (13 percent), and kidney failure (11 percent).

“Health risks can arise at any time. Therefore, we present AIA Fortuna Berkah which provides life protection and provides cashless medical care for serious organ ailments," he said.

He added, with the concept of mutual assistance among participants, AIA Fortuna Berkah provides 100 percent insurance compensation if it is declared to be suffering from a serious organ disease and up to 200 percent insurance compensation if the congregation dies during the pilgrimage or Umrah pilgrimage.

"In addition, customers are also free to choose a payment period of 10 or 20 years according to their needs for protection of up to 88 years," he concluded.
