JAKARTA - PT Transport Jakarta (Transjakarta) is exploring the issuance of green bonds on the London Stock Exchange.
This is one of the efforts and forms of support for the government in achieving the target of zero carbon emissions or net zero emissions.
This exploration was marked by the visit of the President Director of Transjakarta M Yana Aditya and the Director of Operations and Safety of PT Transport Jakarta Yoga Adiwinarto to the London Stock Exchange.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Capital Market and Product Department of the London Stock Exchange, Shery Kholi.
"We are exploring the possibility of issuing a Global Bond. Where we have the opportunity to discuss Transjakarta's plans for the development of electric buses and Transportation Sustainability in Jakarta. To support that, we want financial support," Yana said in a statement to the media, Friday, May 13.
Yana added that the development of electric buses and Sustainability Transportation in Jakarta is in line with the Green Bond concept of the London Stock Exchange which is oriented towards environmental protection.
Meanwhile, the presence of electric buses as a future fleet is estimated to reduce pollution by up to 28 percent compared to diesel buses.
In addition, CO2 emissions in the exhaust gas of electric buses can be reduced by up to 50.3 percent compared to the exhaust gases of diesel buses.
"Transjakarta has started operating electric buses since last March. We are targeting as many as 100 electric buses to be able to serve the community by 2030. We hope to cooperate with the London Stock Exchange to reduce carbon emissions, especially in the public transportation sector," he said.
In addition, in order to strengthen the electrification of electric buses, during a working visit in London Yana also discussed the development of cooperation with the flagship program under the UK International Climate Finance (ICF) portfolio, UK PACT.
The collaboration, which has lasted for one year, will focus on electrification of electric buses, which is one of the efforts to achieve the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
"This project is a continuation of the first project in which UK PACT, through ITDP, will provide technical assistance to Transjakarta in developing a sound final business case (FBC). So that electric buses can immediately serve more people," he concluded.
