Circulating Information About Rp5 Million Electricity Subsidy, PLN Makes Sure It's Hoax

JAKARTA - PLN's Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and CSR Diah Ayu Permatasari confirmed that information about an electricity subsidy of Rp 5 million distributed to customers was a hoax.

"There is information circulating along with a link with a narrative that PLN has distributed electricity subsidies of five million including a link that is claimed to be a way to get the subsidy," he said when confirmed by VOI, Monday 9 May.

In fact, continued Diah, the information along with the link to the information is not true, and is not an official broadcast from PT. PLN (Persero).

On the same occasion, Diah appealed to customers to be careful with information related to how to obtain electricity subsidies, because it leads to a fraudulent mode.

"All information related to electricity subsidies and PLN promos can be seen through the PLN Mobile application," he concluded.

Previously, a link was circulating which claimed to be from PLN to get a household electricity subsidy of Rp 5 million. This link circulated through WhatsApp recently which reads:

"Congratulations!

PLN Government Electricity Subsidy!

Through the questionnaire, you will have a chance to get 5000000 Rupiah."
