JAKARTA - The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) has ensured that the national stock of basic commodities (bapok) is safe and sufficient for the Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran 2022, which is only a few days away. The increase in food prices in the period leading up to the Eid al-Fitr celebration is also still at a reasonable level. KPPU's commissioner, Chandra Setiawan said that KPPU has supervised nine basic commodities, such as rice, cooking oil, chili, sugar, and so on ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2022. According to Chandra, several price increases before Eid al-Fitr occurred nationally, especially for beef. , chili, cooking oil, and flour. However, the increase is still reasonable. In various regions it was also found that there were efforts by associations of business actors in Yogyakarta and Lampung to agree on the price of beef for a certain amount and it has become a concern in the relevant KPPU regional offices. However, Chandra said, KPPU has not received any signals leading to potential business competition violations. If during the monitoring process there are indications of violations, KPPU will take firm action. on the prices of various food commodities, especially those with an oligopolistic market character such as beef, chicken, cooking oil, garlic, and others.
