JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) held a Ramadan Sharing activity by distributing 33,000 food packages worth Rp1.9 billion. The distribution of basic needs was carried out in four regencies, namely Probolinggo and Gresik, East Java, Grobogan districts, Central Java and Enrekang districts, South Sulawesi.

The distribution was symbolically carried out by General Manager of CSR SIG, Edy Saraya in Sukorejo Village, Probolinggo, on Tuesday 12 April. The distribution of 33,000 food packages was carried out in stages starting on Tuesday 12 April to Friday 15 April with details of 5,000 food packages handed over through the Brilian Azzahra Arifin Foundation, in Sukorejo Village, Probolinggo and 10,000 basic food packages through the Ajisaka Binangun Foundation, Sedadi Village, Grobogan, which had been handed over on Tuesday 12 April.

Meanwhile, 8,000 food packages were handed over through the Muhammad Abdul Wahab foundation, Sidomoro Village, Gresik, Wednesday, April 13, next 10,000 food packages will be delivered through the Halal Aspiration House, Jupandang Village, Enrenkeng on Friday 15 April. One basic food package contains 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of cooking oil and 2 cans of sardines.

General Manager of CSR SIG, Edy Saraya said, the distribution of basic needs is a form of the company's concern for the community, as well as a form of support for the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program.

According to him, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is still being felt by some people, therefore through the assistance of this basic food package, it is hoped that it can ease the economic burden of the community.

"Hopefully this assistance will be useful and become a means for the Company to share happiness in the holy month of Ramadan, and the economy will recover soon so that people can immediately carry out their normal activities," said Edy Saraya.

The assistance was welcomed by the Chairman of the Brilliant Azzahra Foundation, Zainal Arifin. According to him, free basic food assistance from GIS is very meaningful for residents.

"We will distribute these basic food packages to residents in 200 villages, especially the elderly and underprivileged widows, who usually work as farm laborers in Probolinggo," said Zainal Arifin.
