Formed In June, Special Entity Of Coal From The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Involves The Coordinating Ministry For Maritime-Investment And Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif ensures that the formation of a special coal entity will continue as planned. He revealed, based on the plan, the entity will be inaugurated next June.

"This special entity is still in progress to be standardized and institutionalized. The target is June," he said in a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission VII DPR, Wednesday, April 13.

Based on his statement, this special entity will be under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia and will involve associations of coal miners.

"Of course it will involve associations. This association has members and non-members, and it is the duty of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to gather all members," he added.

According to him, this special entity will not be much different from the Public Service Agency (BLU), which the government had previously announced would be formed.

"The point is that later the assignment will be given to several large miners. The difference in price will be covered through contributions, while the amount of the contribution depends on the capacity and specifications of the company," he said.

Arifin added that until now his party is still waiting for further meetings to solidify the formation of this special entity. "The process is ongoing because to form this we need data that we need to collect like all coal mining communities," he added.

Meanwhile, Member of Commission VII DPR RI, Maman Abdurahman, suggested the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to utilize and optimize existing institutions under ESDM.

"If possible, Mr. Minister, just encourage existing institutions. Man power already exists, remuneration already exists, officials already exist, just insert and add authority," he suggested.
