Terrible! Since 2020-2021, PLN Accelerates Debt Repayment Of IDR 51 Trillion

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) claims to have succeeded in accelerating the repayment of debts of IDR 51 trillion during the 2020-2021 period. The debt repayment will be carried out in 2020 amounting to Rp30.8 trillion and in 2021 in the amount of Rp21.7 trillion.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the company's efforts to cut this amount were to increase demand and manage revenue.

"We are proud to announce PLN's efforts to accelerate debt repayment of IDR 30.8 trillion in 2020 and 2021 worth IDR 21.7 trillion. With these good efforts, we will increase demand for how to manage our revenue and reduce our costs," said Darmawan in an RDP with Commission VI DPR RI, Monday. March 28.

With the reduction in debt of Rp51 trillion, Darmawan admitted that it had an impact on reducing PLN's financial burden. In addition, it also affects the Basic Cost of Electricity Supply (BPP) which fell to Rp5 trillion last year.

In addition, the realization of PLN's electricity sales was higher than previously estimated. He detailed that in 2020 the realization of electricity sales reached 243 terawatt hours (TWh) from the initial estimate of around 238-239 TWh.

Meanwhile, the realization of electricity sales in 2021 was recorded at 257 TWh from the previous estimate of only reaching 249 TWh.

Every year, continued Darmawan, the company continues to strive to reduce debt and make repayments. This year, PLN will pay back a debt of 1.5 billion US dollars

With this condition, said Darmawan, PLN's fiscal space has also improved. Darmawan explained that currently PLN's total assets reach Rp. 1,700 trillion with operating income of Rp. 300 trillion per year.
