As one of the countries facing the greatest climate change risk, Indonesia is committed to reducing carbon emissions by 29 percent by 2030. Danamon is also committed to encouraging the implementation of sustainable finance by establishing a Sustainability Committee since 2019.

This committee was established to implement five priority program plans which are part of Danamon's desire to fulfill the provisions in POJK Number 51/POJK.03/2017 concerning the Implementation of Sustainable Finance for Financial Services Institutions, Issuers, and Public Companies.

"Danamon is also responsible for supporting initiatives related to Carbon Neutrality. This is in order to comply with the provisions and directives from the government and regulators, while maintaining harmony with MUFG," he explained.

One of the steps taken by Danamon is to estimate greenhouse gas emissions as a group, including its subsidiary Adira Finance, so that in fiscal year 2021, Danamon has succeeded in reducing emissions by 24.6 percent since 2019 to 45.3K CO2e Metric Tons.

In the future, continued Herry, Danamon will continue to develop strategic initiatives and systematic actions to reduce emissions in operational activities.

Some of the approaches that will be realized include saving electricity, producing electricity independently through the use of solar panels, and purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (REC).

"In addition, Danamon will also focus on various financing aimed at supporting sustainability, such as the installation of solar panels as a renewable energy source, as well as the transition to the use of batteries and electric vehicles which also provide benefits in the form of saving electricity and fuel," he concluded.
