JAKARTA - The cooking oil company owned by the conglomerate Martua Sitorus, Wilmar Group is the largest producer in the domestic cooking oil industry, which produces cooking oil from the domestic market obligation (DMO) of crude palm oil (CPO).

Based on data from the Ministry of Trade, there are five producers who are big players in the cooking oil industry. Wilmar Group occupies the first position with a distribution of 99.26 million liters.

The Wilmar Group's cooking oil is produced under the trademarks of Sania, Fortune, Siip, Sovia, Mahkota, Ol'eis, Bukit Olives, Goldie, and Camilla.

Then, in second place is PT Musim Mas with 65.32 million liters. This cooking oil producer distributes its products under the trademarks of SunCo, Amago, Tani, M&M, and Good Choice.

In third place is Sinarmas Group, represented by PT SMART Tbk with 55.19 million liters. The products belonging to PT SMART Tbk are marketed under the trademarks Filma, Mitra, Kunci Mas, and Palmvita.

Then, there is Asian Agri in fourth position with a distribution of 48.59 million liters. The cooking oil produced by this company is marketed under the trademarks of Camar and Harumas.

The last is KPN with a distribution of more than 13 million.

"This is a top producer who helps the progress of the DMO program," Lutfi said in a virtual press conference, quoted on Thursday, March 10.

Distribution of cooking oil

Then, for the area that gets the largest distribution of cooking oil is West Java. This province received cooking oil distribution of 73.6 million liters. Then followed by East Java about 71.4 million liters. Then, DKI Jakarta 57.8 million liters. North Sumatra 49.9 million liters and Central Java 42.9 million liters.

By district/city, North Jakarta is the largest with a stock of 33.4 million liters. Then, followed by Bekasi City with 30 million liters, Medan with 20 million liters, Surabaya with 19 liters and West Java with 14.9 million liters.

Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi said that the distribution of cooking oil has been running in 356 districts/cities in Indonesia. In the period from February 14 to March 8, 2022, the total DMO of cooking oil that was collected reached 573,890 tons.

Meanwhile, those distributed in the form of bulk and packaged oil to the market amounted to 415,787 tons. Meanwhile, exports of CPO and its derivatives reached 2,771,294 tons and there were 126 export issuances from 56 exporters.

"The realization per day, we see an extraordinary number, we reach 21 million liters (per day), this is the work of oil producers in 356 regencies and cities," he explained.

The former US Ambassador said that the distribution of DMO had exceeded the estimated consumption requirement for one month which reached 327,321 tons.

"This is what I call abundant oil," he said.
