JAKARTA - The Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki asked that the international event MotoGP 2022 in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara, be used by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to promote.

"Indonesian MSMEs must show their potential in the international arena, become a means of expanding production, attracting investment, and developing quality products," he said when opening the MSME Goes To Mandalika ceremony at the SMESCO Indonesia Building, quoted by Antara, Sunday 6 March.

According to him, his party will hold an exhibition of more than 1,500 superior MSME products from 14 provinces in the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit which is the MotoGP event on March 18-20 2022.

The products that will be displayed include the automotive category, merchandise, souvenirs, health products, and food and beverages (food and beverages).

In 2021, the automotive industry is said to have increased by 17.82 percent by absorbing around 1.5 million workers along the industrial value chain.

This is considered to be evidence that the demand for the automotive market is still high.

"The improvement in the automotive industry will automatically increase other sectors, including MSMEs," he said.

According to Teten, MSMEs are a supporting sector for the automotive industry, including as a distributor of vehicle components.

Furthermore, he said the MotoGP event should be used as a promotional platform for MSME products, tourism, and investment.

He wants the realization of a measurable roadmap for the promotion so that in the next 10 years Indonesia in organizing MotoGP in Mandalika can increase the target of the automotive industry, including from the MSME sector.

"In 10 years, I am optimistic that we can drive the world-class Indonesian automotive industry," said the Coordinating Minister.

On this occasion, 60 SMEs and 40 travel SMEs were held exhibitions in the automotive sector as a series of MSME promotions as well as tourism services to support the Mandalika MotoGP event.

In addition, brief coaching clinics related to safety riding by the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), freestyle attractions, and the release of Team Riders Goes to Mandalika were also held.

This activity was also attended by approximately 1,000 motorcycle drivers (bikers) from various two-wheel communities and the automotive community.
