Good News From Sandiaga Uno, Overseas Travelers Will Be Free Of Quarantine Starting April 2022, Here Are The Conditions

JAKARTA - The government has decided to reduce the quarantine period from 5 days to 3 days for foreign travelers (PPLN) who come to Indonesia. The reduction in the quarantine period will later be announced through a Circular from the COVID-19 Task Force.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that this reduction in the quarantine period must be addressed while still adhering to health protocols. Therefore, he asked the public to comply with health protocols.

"We are heading into the right direction, but we still need to be careful what needs to be improved is the application of health protocols. Because we have received reports that the level of community compliance with the program has decreased drastically by up to 50 percent," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, February 16.

Quarantine free proposal

In addition, Sandiaga said there is other good news, if the situation continues to improve, a decrease in quarantine days completely from 3 days will be proposed to be quarantine-free on April 1, 2022.

However, continued Sandiaga, the quarantine-free proposal needs to be supported with the condition of 2 doses of vaccination and booster.

"The reduction in the 3-day quarantine period applies to those who have boosted and continue to carry out PCR exit tests on the third day. And on the fifth day carry out independent PCR tests. If the situation continues to improve. Please this be a reference and guideline for the industry," he said.

On the occasion, Sandiaga also explained that according to the results of a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo, the Level 3, 2, and 1 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) rules would be adjusted to maintain a balance between health and the economy.

However, continued Sandiaga, the government has also begun to provide concessions so those community activities, especially the economy, can revive. Even so, health protocols must still be adhered to.

"For WFO (work from office) which was previously 25 percent for Level 3 PPKM, it will be increased to 50 percent. Also implementation in several public places and other places. People can carry out activities with caution and vigilance, can still be done as long as the protocol is implemented strict health measures, so that this moment becomes a benchmark for economic revival in the country," he said.
