JAKARTA - The government through the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, decided to extend the implementation of the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in areas outside Java and Bali for the next two weeks.

"PPKM outside Java-Bali will be held for the next 14 days, from February 15 to February 28, 2022", he said when holding a virtual press conference related to the PPKM evaluation on Monday, February 14.

According to Airlangga, this step was taken based on the current level of assessment of the pandemic situation.

"This includes community transmission, hospitalization rates, testing tracing, and treatment, as well as vaccinations", he said.

Through this determination, Airlangga detailed that there were 63 regencies/cities with level 1 status. Then, 205 regencies/cities at level 2 and 118 regencies/cities with level 3.

Furthermore, Airlangga revealed that cases outside Java-Bali are still relatively low at 13.9 percent of national cases.

"But of course, we have seen that since January 24 there has been a spike, and we will monitor the next 2-3 weeks the number is likely to increase again because as we know outside Java, Bali is usually slower than in Java and Bali", he said.

Airlangga added, daily cases and hospitalization increased in 10 provinces from 15 regencies/cities outside Java-Bali, although cases were still higher when there was a delta variant.

"Hospital care is relatively lower and in a more controlled stage or situation", he said.

In terms of bed occupancy rate (BOR) is known to be low, less than 20 percent for outside Java-Bali, except for South Sumatra 30 percent, West Papua 25 percent, South Kalimantan 23 percent, North Sulawesi 23 percent, and Bengkulu 21 percent.
