Kominfo Efforts To Encourage People To Use Local MSME Products With Economic Digitization

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information encourages people to buy and use products made by domestic micro, small and medium enterprises. Using domestic products can help the sustainability of MSME businesses, which are being supported to enter digital platforms in the midst of the corona virus pandemic.

"This is very relevant to Indonesia's needs, encouraging products with the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement, which is one of the programs that is an important point for the rise of MSMEs in the midst of the rapid flow of digitalization," said Minister of Communications and Informatics, Johnny G. Plate, during a visit to Adi Wastra Nusantara exhibition in Jakarta.

Craftsmen and SMEs are expected to be able to leverage the revival of the Indonesian economy after being hit by the corona virus pandemic. One way that everyone can do to support MSMEs is to buy and use their products.

The foundation of the national economy is supported by MSME activities, which contribute 60 percent of the national Gross Domestic Product. The government, said Johnny, pays serious attention to the development of MSME actors.

"The government certainly supports and encourages exhibitions like this to be held periodically, on a regular basis," Johnny said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, February 12.

Johnny encourages the younger generation to look at local weaving, the legacy of their ancestors that can be created into today's clothing.

In a number of official events, Minister Johnny is often seen wearing a suit made of batik or woven fabric.

The National Movement for Proud Made in Indonesia is one of the programs launched by the government during the pandemic, to support the use of local products and the sustainability of the MSME business.

This program also encourages MSME players to enter the digital ecosystem and sell online so that business can continue in the midst of economic difficulties due to the pandemic. Until October 2021, this program encourages 7.2 million local MSME players to migrate to digital platforms.
