JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk is said to have just inaugurated an Electric Gas Station or General Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) facility within the company's head office. In today's press release, it was revealed that Bank Mandiri was the first non-PLN BUMN to own the installation.
Bank Mandiri's Director of Institutional Relations Rohan Hafas said the company's breakthrough could not be separated from its commitment to support the development of renewable energy.
"The existence of this SPKLU is part of our series of initiatives in establishing a renewable energy ecosystem that complements each other and supports the company's electric car facility as an operational vehicle," he said on Monday, January 10.
According to Rohan, this strategy is expected to trigger a new habit of using environmentally friendly vehicles within Bank Mandiri and other BUMN agencies.
"A ready and conducive ecosystem is the main prerequisite in achieving the success of the movement to encourage people to use renewable energy," he said.
For information, SPKLU which is owned by this state-owned bank cannot be separated from collaboration with PT PLN. In this collaboration, Bank Mandiri will prepare the location and supporting infrastructure, while PLN will provide electricity for the needs of the SPKLU, which is planned to operate for 24 hours.
Not only that, PLN will also prepare a maintenance team that will monitor the operation and ensure the readiness of the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station.
"Users of the facility must go through the PLN Mobile application and later it will be added using the QRIS Mandiri service to make it easier for consumers who own vehicles to control charging and make payments," said Rohan.
On the same occasion, Bank Mandiri Director of Corporate Banking Susana Indah Indriati revealed that her party has also developed an electric car marketing scheme through its subsidiary Mandiri Tunas Finance.
These efforts further complement the company's business, which previously entered into financing renewable energy power plants, namely solar panels.
"As a state-owned company, we want to be able to continue to support the government's program to explore and utilize the potential of new and renewable energy which is quite large in Indonesia. This is clear evidence of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," said Indah.
