JAKARTA - The Task Force for Collection of State Claims for the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Fund (BLBI) has again attempted to confiscate guaranteed assets of the Texmaco Group. It was stated that 587 plots of land located in five regions had been seized by the state, namely in Subang Regency, Sukabumi Regency, Pekalongan City, Batu City, and Padang City with a total area of 4,794,202 square meters.
Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that the BLBI Task Force was tasked with returning the state's claim rights in the Texmaco Group with an obligation value of Rp29 trillion plus US$80.5 million.
"This step is in line with civil laws and regulations such as Law No. 49 of 1960 concerning State Receivable Affairs)," he said during a press conference with Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Thursday, December 23.
According to the Minister of Finance, the execution of the confiscation of collateral assets is a form of action to collect state claims after the government has given the obligor time and opportunity for more than 20 years to be able to pay off the obligation.
"We will continue to take these steps consistently to all obligors and those who were previously bank owners, and this is a public responsibility that we will convey to the public," he said.
