JAKARTA - The plan to build a research center and museum in the Sido Muncul Factory Area, Ungaran, Central Java is carried out in the context of the anniversary of PT Sido Muncul Herbal and Pharmaceutical Industry, TBK's 70th year and 8th year of becoming a public company. The thanksgiving event was marked by the suppression of sirens and the unveiling of the mock-up by the Sido Muncul Board of Directors.

Director of Sido Muncul Irwan Hidayat explained that the purpose of developing this area which has an area of about 4-5 hectares is to preserve the culture and tradition of herbal medicine as well as to become a center for information and scientific/educational learning.

"First, this research center will later focus on herbs, herbal medicines, and spice plants. The goal is to find natural medicines (spices) that can benefit the community. We want to develop and cultivate medicinal plants so that they can produce superior spice seeds, which have a high content of active substances," explained Irwan Hidayat in his written statement, quoted Wednesday, December 22.

"Both of our goals are to build a museum, we want the younger generation to understand the history and traditions of herbal medicine so that they can preserve the herbal medicine culture. The museum will be packaged in a modern way with the support of contemporary technology," he added.

The event, which was held according to strict health protocols, was also attended by the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, represented by Muhammad Arif Sambodo, the Regent of Semarang Ngesti Nugraha, the Mayor of Semarang, represented by the Assistant for the Government for the Economy, Widoyono, the Mayor of Salatiga, represented by the Deputy Mayor of Salatiga, Muhammad Haris, Gusmus Mustofa Bisri, Sido Muncul President Commissioner Jonatha Sofjan Hidajat, Sido Muncul Commissioner Johan Hidayat, Sido Muncul Commissioner Sigit Hartojo Hadi Santoso, Sido Muncul President Director David Hidayat, Sido Muncul Director Irwan Hidayat, and Sandra Hidayat.

Irwan said that originally the thanksgiving event should have been held on November 11. However, it was postponed because it was still in mourning.

"This event should have been held to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Sido Muncul on November 11. But because our family is grieving, we will do it on December 18," said Irwan.

"We hope that with this research center and museum more visitors will come to our place. Before the pandemic, the total monthly visitors (mostly students) were 8,000 visitors. We hope that after this we can reach 40,000 visitors every month," continued Irwan.

At this celebration, Sido Muncul also provided social assistance with a total value of Rp600 million which was handed over to the Governor of Central Java (Rp200 million), Mayor of Semarang (Rp100 million), Regent of Semarang (Rp100 million), and Mayor of Salatiga (Rp100 million).
