Sandiaga Uno Appreciates Garuda Indonesia - BNI Collaboration For Awakening The Tourism Industry

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno appreciates and supports the strategic collaboration of SOEs such as BNI and Garuda Indonesia in holding the Garuda Indonesia Travel Fair (GATF) Hybrid 2021.

He believes that this activity involving the Indonesian tourism industry will encourage employment as well as support the recovery of the tourism sector which had slumped due to the pandemic.

"We will continue to support various positive initiatives from Garuda Indonesia and BNI in encouraging the recovery of national tourism. Of course, this will help the recovery of the tourism sector and absorption of its workforce," Sandiaga said in a statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday 12 December.

He said travel exhibitions, which specifically promote local leisure travel, could again stimulate the performance of tourism economic actors and the local economy.

Furthermore, Sandiaga said that Indonesia is also one of the five major countries that have a pandemic security level with good recognition or level 1 from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Currently, local tourism actors are also always improving their services and have received CHSE (Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability) certification.

"We hope this will become a belief for the community to further increase tourism mobility. But of course, it must be balanced with the application of health protocols in all aspects of tourism operations," he said.

For this reason, Sandiaga specifically hopes that BNI can be more active with various innovative consumer product programs to encourage public consumption in the tourism industry.

On the same occasion, Deputy President Director of BNI Adi Sulistyowati said that the GATF series is a proactive step by BNI and Garuda to encourage public trust, which has increased quite well by the end of this year.

"We hope that with this synergy, the tourism industry can bounce back, so that the national economy can also revive nationally," he said.

Adi Sulistyowati said that the current condition of tourism was much better than the conditions before the pandemic because there had been many initiatives to improve the quality of service and cleanliness for visitors.

"To encourage this interest, in the GATF 2021 series, we present many promos, cashback, travel insurance, exchanging miles points, so we hope to support the recovery of this national tourism industry," he said.
