JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) and business players in the Financial Services Industry (IJK) provided assistance worth IDR 750 million for the handling of the Mount Semeru eruption disaster in East Java.

The OJK Deputy Commissioner for Public Relations and Logistics Anto Prabowo said the donations were in the form of cash by placing it through the Baznas account in Lumajang Regency as well as logistics in the form of basic necessities, medicines, and other equipment.

"The assistance in the form of logistics was distributed directly to the evacuation post for residents in Sumbersewu Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency," he said in a press statement, Monday, December 6.

Anto added that the OJK and Financial Services Industry (IJK) Care for Disaster Program will continue to be opened and coordinated by the authorities to collect donations to help deal with the impact of natural disasters and the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

"In addition to providing assistance to victims of the eruption, the OJK is coordinating with players in the financial services industry to collect data and information about financial service offices affected by the eruption and to ensure that services to the public can operate again," he said.

On the same occasion, the Regent of Lumajang Thoriqul Haq welcomed the efforts and assistance from various parties in assisting disaster management and easing the burden of the affected residents.

"Thank you to the OJK and IJK who have quickly and responsively provided assistance to communities affected by the hot clouds and Mount Semeru avalanches," he said.

Furthermore, Thoriqul also conveyed the progress of handling victims from the eruption of Mount Semeru as well as three priority assistances currently needed by residents, namely in the form of basic necessities, non-food items (blankets, clothes, medicines, etc.), and clean water for daily needs.
