Minister Of Health Asks Kadin To Encourage Investment In Health Sector

JAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi asked the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to encourage investment in the health sector in the country.

In front of the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Nusa Dua, Bali on December 3-4, 2021, the Minister of Health stated that the huge potential of the health and pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia is very unfortunate if it is ignored by stakeholders.

"This potential should be utilized by building manufacturing capacity or factories for the health or pharmaceutical industry. My suggestion is that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry should encourage investment in this sector," he said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 4.

In the 2021 Rapimnas business forum regarding the national health sector and its industry, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the transformation of national health must be accelerated.

Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2016 concerning the Acceleration of the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Industry as well as regulations for the Domestic Content Level (TKDN), he continued, are expected to be a momentum for the domestic health industry to be more aggressive in building capacity to produce domestic medical devices.

Meanwhile, in a business forum with the theme of regional economic empowerment, the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia said that currently investment in the regions, especially outside Java, had begun to increase rapidly.

This is because the government continues to prepare its infrastructure coupled with higher incentives if you want to invest outside Java.

From the final quarter of 2020 to the present, he added, the number of investments outside Java continues to increase. This is very important, because the investment contributes greatly to the creation of jobs in the regions as well as economic equity.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said that the economic empowerment of the regions, especially rural areas, must be strengthened through the MoU of the Minister of Home Affairs, the Mendes, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

To advance the village economy, he continued, it is impossible to rely solely on village funds, it requires investment from entrepreneurs. The President added, also ordered to build a special economic zone around the National Border Post (PLBN).

According to the General Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arsjad Rasjid Rapimnas, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry this time discussed several important themes that are relevant in the current national situation.

The priority themes discussed by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with several ministers included health and industry issues, regional economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and capacity building as well as a road map to Net Zero.

Arsjad hopes that this business forum can be a forum for exchanging ideas and finding common ground regarding economic problems and challenges facing Indonesia.

"Hopefully this forum will produce a road map that will be recommended for issuing policies or strategic steps for the government for the progress and revival of Indonesia towards the 2045 Golden Indonesia," he said.

Other ministers who were also speakers at the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) were Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani and Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa, both of whom discussed the Road Map to Net Zero Emission.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said related to climate change funds, the government used an incentive policy for companies that took climate change actions. The government is currently developing innovative financing in this regard.
