Jiwasraya Case Not Completed, Haris Azhar Values Arya Sinulingga's Statement Hurts The Victim's Heart

JAKARTA - The statement by the Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, who responded to sharp criticism from Pertamina's President Commissioner Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, was deemed inappropriate. Including his claim that he has resolved major cases such as the mega corruption of Jiwasraya and Asabri.

Human rights activist who is also a legal practitioner, Haris Azhar, said that Arya only threw a narrative that played on words and was limited to claims. In fact, there is no conclusive evidence that cases such as Jiwasraya and Asabri have been resolved.

"Where are the consolidated documents that photograph all of the settlements? There are none. What is the evidence? There are still delays in paying customers, I think there are a lot of complaints from third parties (victims)," Haris said in his statement in Jakarta, quoted on Wednesday December 1.

For information, Ahok previously mentioned that many contracts were detrimental to SOEs, including Pertamina. In response, Arya said that Ahok as the President Commissioner should not feel like the President Director. Then he said, the former governor of DKI Jakarta did not follow the development of SOEs.

Then, Arya claimed that his party had handled many cases. As evidence, he said the Jiwasraya and Asabri cases had been reported, until the perpetrators were imprisoned for life, which has never happened in history.

However, the fact is that the Jiwasraya case has caused endless chaos. Many third parties become victims because they lose their rights.

That also does not include the effect on other companies connected to the perpetrators in these cases, which are actually not legally related.

Regarding the claims of the Jiwasraya and Asabri cases, Haris said Arya did not seem to understand the true philosophy of law enforcement and the statement hurt the victims from third parties.

"Arya Sinulingga doesn't understand the philosophy of law enforcement, so he's just looking for the effects of cruelty," said Haris.

"I want to say that these are the styles of politicians, not state officials. The style of politicians who claim success, in my opinion, is not wise and hurts the victims who save at Jiwasraya and Asabri. In reality, third parties have difficulty enjoying their savings," added Haris.

According to Haris, there have been many losses experienced by third parties dealing with SOEs. From the Jiwsraya and Asabri cases, the government is considered only to want to enforce the law, but does not see the long-term effect on the victims.

"There are many third parties who have lost their rights because the government just wants to enforce the law, but there is no protection for third parties," said Haris.

Furthermore, regarding Ahok's criticism, Haris saw that it was not related to the status of commissioners or president directors. In his opinion, Ahok's statement was actually correct.

"Ahok's criticism in this situation, in my opinion, is not about the position of commissioner or president director. If the Pertamina president director is trapped and locked up by the SOE Minister, I think that is the commissioner's job. It is true what Ahok is talking about," he said.

Finally, Haris sees that the government, with a style that is difficult to accept input or facts on the ground, will continue to generate waves of criticism.

"This regime style, sooner or later will lead to protests and criticism from many parties, including from within the government itself," said Haris.
