The COVID-19 Pandemic Is Not Over And Still A Threat Next Year, Jokowi Asks For Responsive And Flexible 2022 State Budget

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, and will still be a threat next year. Therefore, Jokowi requested that the 2022 National Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) be responsive and flexible.

Furthermore, Jokowi said that the pandemic created uncertainty. Moreover, currently in various worlds a new variant of COVID-19 is emerging, namely Omicron.

"Facing the uncertainty of 2022, we must design a responsive 2022 APBN that anticipates and is also flexible, always innovates and anticipates various changes that occur while maintaining good governance," he said during the submission of the Budget Implementation List (DIPA) and Transfers to the Regions. and the 2022 Village Fund (TKDD), Monday, November 29.

To deal with various uncertainties in 2022, Jokowi requested that anticipation and mitigation be carried out as early as possible. So that it does not interfere with the continuity of the structural reform program and the national economic recovery (PEN) is being worked on.

"The 2022 state budget must also encourage the revival of the national economy and support structural reforms," he said.

Jokowi ensured that uncertainty in the health and economic sectors should be the basis for planning and implementing programs for next year.

In addition, Jokowi said that the 2022 State Budget has a central role as the G20 Presidency. According to him, the event should be a momentum for Indonesia to show its ability to deal with climate change.

"The 2022 state budget has a central role, as the G20 presidency, we must demonstrate our ability to deal with climate change, especially in reducing emissions and moving to improve the environment in a sustainable manner," he said.
