Flying Travel Conditions Relaxed, Angkasa Pura I Recorded 47 Percent Passenger Traffic

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I recorded passenger traffic growth of 47.2 percent to 2.86 million movements in October 2021 from the previous 1.94 million movements in September 2021.

President Director of Angkasa Pura I Faik Fahmi said that after the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in July 2021, flight traffic continued to grow.

"The easing of air travel requirements since September and October has an impact on increasing flight traffic," he said in a press statement on Tuesday, November 8.

According to Faik, despite the increase in flight activities, his party still applies high standards to ensure the safety and comfort of air travel, especially in the current pandemic situation.

"The implementation of health protocols at all Angkasa Pura airports is still carried out strictly and according to procedures," he said.

In detail, Faik explained that growth also occurred in aircraft traffic in October 2021, which grew 31.4 percent from 23,379 aircraft movements in September 2021 to 30,730 aircraft movements in October 2021. Likewise, cargo traffic grew 9.6 percent from 35,589 tons in October 2021. September to 39,028 tonnes in October 2021.

Meanwhile, the highest passenger traffic in October was at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, which amounted to 664,514 passenger movements. Followed by Juanda Airport Surabaya, which amounted to 570,487 passenger movements, and the third highest passenger traffic was at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, which amounted to 464,840 passenger movements.

Meanwhile, the total flight traffic at 15 Angkasa Pura I airports from January to October 2021 is 21.25 million passenger movements, 258,698 aircraft movements, and 340.981 tons of cargo.

"In October 2021, Angkasa Pura I served an average of 92,284 passengers per day at 15 airports. That number increased from September 2021 which was 64,780 passengers per day. However, this increase still cannot match the average daily traffic in the period before the implementation of the Emergency PPKM, especially for the 18 May-2 July period, with an average daily passenger traffic of 119,845 passengers per day," he said.

Furthermore, Faik said that the easing of mobility requirements and massive vaccination efforts are expected to have a positive impact on aviation traffic so that it can continue to increase until the end of the year.

"Moreover, this month the World Superbike 2021 international motorcycle racing event will be held in Mandalika, Lombok which has the potential to restore the tourism sector," concluded Faik.
